Winter Funk

I’ve been in such a total funk this week and the only thing I can think to blame it on is the cold weather that doesn’t seem to show any signs of going away.

I’ve been so spoiled most of my life, living in California where it wasn’t unusual to experience a heat wave over Christmas vacation which meant meeting friends at the beach for the week and going back to school looking like we’d vacationed in Hawaii or someplace tropical.

Even here in Texas, as cold as it gets, it’s usually pretty short lived and the next thing you know, we’re all complaining about the unbearable heat.   It just seems like this winter is dragging out longer than usual.  I can’t even fathom how depressing it must be for my northern friends and family who are dealing with snow in addition to the dreariness.  My condolences to you if you’re there.

I found myself going through my OUTDOOR SPACES folder on Pinterest in an effort to warm myself up and raise my spirits a little.  These images are a promise and reminder to myself (and to you) that it’s just a season and this too shall pass.

How fun would it be to collect some second hand chandeliers and spray paint them like that?  I see a project a comin’

My love for front and back porches that invite you to stay a while, built in pit seating with outdoor summer parties in mind and my undying love for porch swings are keeping me warm…or making me antsy.  I can’t really tell which it is at this stage but I’m holding on to the promise of spring.  Because it always comes, even if it feels like it’s taking an eternity to do so.

Stay warm and encouraged, friends.  Warmer days are ahead.  Sometime.

xo,

Rene
