This weekend was filled with a LOT of “have to do’s”, honey do’s and “don’t really want to do’s”. Does that make sense? Somehow, I think you get it.
After the sickening realization that the gorgeous stainless steel hood I ordered for the kitchen (One Room Challenge) was shipped mistakenly to my OLD ADDRESS, which is a 4 hour drive…ugh!…I decided to get over it and asked my former neighbor and good friend, Sonja to collect it from the new home owners of our old house. It is now safely in her possession and thankfully, I have a trip planned up there for work next week so I’ll pick it up then.
In the mean time, we spent the weekend
organizing rearranging cleaning out the garage which allows me to actually PARK in it (yes!). Chalk that up to “Honey-Do”
I spent Saturday going through Cayman’s bedroom. 8 year olds can collect a LOT in their lifetime and it’s not exactly their fault. It’s hard for me as a mom to let go of books we read to him as a baby…books that he is CLEARLY too old for now but it hurts just the same. I put together a box of donations, a box to save for future grand babies and a box for trash and went to town. Chalk that one up to “Have to do”
And then, I looked at the chaotic office, the wall paper border in the kitchen and a few other eye sores throughout my house and just walked away. Chalk that one up to “don’t really want to do”. Maybe next weekend =)
We also did this:
We’re getting ready to paint and have picked out some really lovely colors. I can’t wait to get it done so I can start putting away all of the accessories and artwork I have piled up all over the place. That armoire is packed and the mess on top is starting to make me crazy. On a positive note however, it was so beautiful and cool this weekend, I put away my floral spring/summer pillows and broke out the fur. Can’t wait to find the rest of my fall/winter pillows to welcome the season.
My husband had these made for our front yard. I’m a 49er fan, he’s a Chiefs fan so he felt it was only fair we were both represented. Living in the Houston area, I’m surprised someone didn’t vandalize my sign after the Niners CRUSHED the Texans in last night’s game. Thankfully, I have nice neighbors…
A childhood friend of mine, going all the way back to the third grade back in Costa Mesa, California happened to be in town this weekend visiting his parents. Upon learning this, we invited him over last night for dinner and had such a wonderful time catching up. David is an actor and amazing photographer. You can see his spectacular photographs at The Captive Eye and if you watch closely for him, you can see him as one of the Monroe Militia in season one of Revolution, as well as in Under the Dome and Sleepy Hollow (one of my favorites!).
By the end of Sunday night, this was how I felt…Cali had the right idea. My friend Dave snapped this photo and it just made me smile. I followed suite shortly after he left, crawled into bed and got a great nights sleep in order to gear up for Monday and the rest of the week.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Be sure to check back in on Thursday for an update on the One Room Challenge!
