I’ve had a love affair with tile since I was a little girl, watching my mom pick out the tile that would go into the entry of our new home (which as it turned out, became someone else’s tile due to some shifty real estate politics…another story for another day).
When I first went out on my own, one of my first projects was picking out materials for a client who was updating their bathroom. I loved (and still do) the granite yards, seeing all those amazing slabs cut from a mountain somewhere and the earthy smell that is attached to them.
The tile showrooms though…that’s where the project gets artistic and where you can turn an average kitchen into a showroom worthy of any culinary wannabe or actual chef!
The back splash accents are what makes a kitchen unique and expressive of the person who uses the space and it helps create a feeling of unity with the rest of the utilitarian items needed to make the space functional.
The tile, or whatever material is used, is where the personality is so ask yourself, what is my kitchen’s personality and how does it relate to my own?
