I mentioned a while back that we were building a fireplace surround/wall unit in our living room.
Our house is minus a fire place and this, my friends, is just unacceptable!
I also may have mentioned way back when that when we first moved in, the very first project we took on was to remove all of the carpet and ugly laminate flooring throughout the downstairs because the former owners had cats that were apparently using the dining room as a litter box (gross). At the time, we were really eager to test out our resourcefulness by staining the concrete because
A) we LOVED the look and
B) it was CHEAP.
(See the floor?)
Fast forward now to today and note that the stain we used on the floors didn’t quite penetrate the concrete and went on more like a paint instead of a stain, which due to THIS lovely girl, has been scratched beyond the look of urban chic to just cheap
(not what we were going for).
And while I LOVE the look of hardwood, I’m obviously not even dreaming about it in my home due to the pretty princess’s sharp claws that often tear through the house chasing 5 year old boys and tennis balls…or am I?
Yesterday we were touring the local tile warehouse and I found this for $1.00 a Sq. Ft. (whaaat?)
It’s porcelain tile that looks like pickled hardwood planks and I guess my question is this:
In a few years, am I going to walk into my house,
(tile or wood? Can you tell the difference?)
Loving the way it looked when I put it in, thinking
“My, how lovely and creative is my home?”
(how about this?)
To waking up one day wondering, “What the hell was I thinking?” like whomever loved the look of this little gem thought when THEY installed THIS:
