I told you yesterday about the 50% off plant sale at Lowes …Seriously, I can’t figure out WHY I’ve spend the past year and a half in my house without any live plants!
I just want to load up every corner I can find with some greenery now…Let’s hope they don’t commit suicide on me.
Excuse the quality of these photos…it’s just sad when your blackberry’s photos turn out better than your 10 year old camera! It is what it is…
I’m almost not even minding the 1970′s gold fabric on my curb side find chair…that’s the healing the power of a good tree for you.
Put another one on the other side of the room (we call it the kitchen) where the trunk now in the living room by the chair used to be.
That trunk is another ancient find of mine. I stumbled onto an estate sale in Long Beach years ago and it had belonged to Naval Vet back in WWII. It had been his foot locker and it weighs a TON. I can’t imagine all those men hauling their belongings on and off their ship in those things. I Love it so much knowing that it once contained this wonderful person’s world for a time.
The view from the living room to the kitchen
(note to self: fix cushions before photographing next time)
Kitchen to living room, both sides anchored by my beautiful trees!
(another note to self: fix throw on back of sofa…geeze.)
Photo styling skills need some work, I think.
And, just for the sheer fun of it, here’s what these rooms looked like when we first moved in Before: brown blah…
So you remember that a few days ago I scored this pretty little curb side treasure:
I promptly made my way over to my favorite thrift store to see if I could find a friend for her. I’ve been trying to decide what to do with this end of my living room forever now, so with the little princess loaded in the back of my car, I asked the nice lady who runs the store to call me should she get any donations that would compliment her.
In addition to numerous items I desperately wanted to take home, I came across a couple of oil paintings that I just fell in love with!
I used great self control and walked away. The problem was that I woke up around 2:00 am thinking about them so I rushed back the next day to find them gone (heart broken).
Me: Oh no, someone bought them?
Nice Lady: No dear, I put them away for you because I knew you’d be back for them and they were gaining a lot of interest.
Me: Oh my!! Seriously???
I’ll take them!!!!
Now, as sweet as she was to put them away for me, the cynical side of my brain is thinking she was going to buy them for herself but she still gave them to me and so either way, SHE ROCKS!
And now, I have this:
I just think they are so elegant.
AND (I can’t believe I almost left this out!)
They were an additional 10% off.
$35.00 well spent if you ask me!
This room has a little ways to go but I’m liking it’s direction…so does Cali, as you can see.
(I feel it’s important to make sure your pets match your decor…I told you, I’m sick).
Just F.Y.I., Lowes has all of their plants in the garden area on sale for 50% off. I picked up this pretty little Palm tree for $12.00!
Nice addition, no? Fabric samples for the chair are in the mail…can’t wait!
Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.
Ok, I’ll admit it. It’s not the wittiest, most well written show on tv. In fact, Cougar Town is one of those shows that we watch each week maily because it follows Modern Family, which is by far, THE BEST comedy on tv. So what keeps me watching week after week? I’m a total sucker for great set design and I absolutely ADORE Courtney Cox’s house on the show:
Love the kitchen with the black granite, white cabinets and woven shade over the window.
I love the mixture of fabrics and textures between the living room and the kitchen
Those pendants in the kitchen are so pretty and I LOVE the fabric on the living room chairs as well as the sofa.
Her bedroom is FAB. LOVE that chair in the corner!
Of course, there are a thousand other photos I’d LOVE to post of her house, which upon searching for, I discovered is the work of set designer, Archie D’Amico.
Surprisingly, I had a hard time finding photos and so I borrowed these from The Little Big House. She apparently has the same appreciation for the decor I do so it’s good to know I’m not alone in watching a semi cheesy show just for the design porn.
